Product Description:
In pre-Revolutionary Wilmington, North Carolina, nothing is as it seems.

Respected political leader Harry Tresmayne has been found murdered beside a lonely road on Cape Fear. Was he waylaid by a highway robber? Or done-in by members of a rival political faction? Or did his amorous adventures finally catch up with him? Harry's friend, Matthew Livesey, is drawn to investigate the truth, and the more Livesey learns about Harry's private life,
the more reasons for murder he finds. With the contributions of Livesey's clever daughter Bess, and the unsavory assistance of Jemmy Bowlegs-whose reputation as a tracker is second only to his familiarity with sinful vices-the suspect list begins to grow. Soon it includes some of the highest- and lowest-born in the region, and Matthew Livesey and his family face the consequences when a cold-blooded killer is run to ground.

Full of Lambdin's trademark action, vivid settings and strong characters, What Lies Buried brings a new twist to the historical mystery. Colonial Wilmington and Old Cape Fear come alive in this tale of people struggling to make a new life for themselves while dealing with the secrets that lie within us all.

Summary: What Lies Burried : A Novel of Old cape fear Rating: 4
This book was well written, as all his books are. The history of this pre revolutionary period was interesting. However I did not enjoy this book as much as I do his sea storys.

Summary: An enthusiastically recommended novel that is as entertaining as it is engaging from beginning to end Rating: 5
Nothing is as it seems in pre-Revolutionary Wilmington, North Carolina. Respected political leader Harry Tresmayne has been found murdered beside a lonely road in Cape Fear, and the more his friend Matthew Livesey uncovers about Harry's private life, the more he finds motives for murder. The suspect list ranges from the elite to the lowest-born of the region. Matthew Livesey and his family find themselves facing dangerous consequences as a cold-blooded killer is run to ground. Dewey Lambdin is an expert author of historical novels, and once again has employed his considerable talents in creating strange characters, accurate period dialogue, and historical accuracy to infuse this deftly written murder mystery with local color. The result is an enthusiastically recommended novel that is as entertaining as it is engaging from beginning to end.
