Publication Date:   2005-02-03
ISBN-10 / ASIN:   0446532649
ISBN-13 / EAN:   9780446532648

Product Description:

The FBI's former top serial-killer hunter shares his unique perspective as both a lawman and a member of the clergy counseling convicts--revealing the dangerously thin line between good and evil.

Roger L. Depue spent decades tracking down America's most depraved criminals. First as a small town police chief, then as a S.W.A.T. team member, and ultimately as head of the FBI's famed Behavioral Sciences Unit--the unit responsible for profiling and hunting serial killers--where he pioneered revolutionary law enforcement programs and techniques that remain in use today by the FBI and police departments across the globe. In his quest to comprehend the true nature of good and evil, Depue embarked on a mid-career spiritual sabbatical to become a Brother of the Missionaries of the Holy Apostles, counseling maximum security inmates. With his combined experiences as both a law enforcement professional and a member of the clergy, Depue explores the criminal mind and soul as no one has ever done before.

A Cry in the Desert: The Awakening of Byron Katie

A Cry in the Desert: The Awakening of Byron Katie Summary:

By Chritin Lore Weber
Publisher:   The Work Foundation Inc.
Number Of Pages:   214
Publication Date:   1996
ISBN-10 / ASIN:   1890246026
ISBN-13 / EAN:   9781890246020

Summary: Well-intentioned but inaccurate Rating: 2
This book was written with the best of intentions, by a writer with a touching sense of devotion to Katie. But as an account of Katie's experience and insight, it is inaccurate, and many of the details about Katie's life are simply wrong. In addition, all quotes from Katie are questionable.
When I pointed out a number of these passages to Katie in 2000, she agree to discontinue publication. (I should also say that Christin Weber, with a humility and acquiescence that is very rare among writers, agreed to this, and told Katie that she wanted whatever would best serve her and The Work.)I invite those who are interested in Katie's life and thought to read her book "A Thousand Names for Joy," and to keep in touch with her through her blog and website, [...], and through Twitter.
