Sony Reader Library Error Update

For Sony Reader users who get the following error message:

Download failed, content has already been licensed to another user -475

  • Deauthorize Adobe Digital Editions and the Sony Reader. Once this was done, reauthorize both and was able to download and transfer the title successfully.
Steps to quickly de-authorize ADE:
On a PC: CTRL+Shift+D
On a Mac: CMD+Shift+D
To de-authorize the Sony Reader:
Ctrl+Shift+E to de-authorize a device
CMD+Shift+E on a Mac
  • Now, reauthorize Adobe Digital Editions, connect the device, and authorize it again as well.
  • Next, download a fresh title, (I always like using Firefox, as it gives me better options to control which program opens the file), and open the file with Adobe Digital Editions.
  • From the "Library View" in Adobe Digital Editions, not the "Reading View," click on the book cover, hold, and drag the title to the Sony Reader listed on the left sidebar of Adobe Digital Editions.

Sony Reader Library Error

A Sony Reader user has reported the following error message:

Download failed, content has already been licensed to another user -475

This error occurred when using the Sony Reader Library software to open and transfer eBooks to the Sony Reader. The issue is not related to previously opening the EPUB file under another Adobe ID. It is completely related to the Sony Reader Library.

UPDATE: http://nhdbooks.blogspot.com/2011/06/sony-reader-library-error-update.html

Here is the solution:
  • Instead of downloading and opening the EPUB file with the Sony Reader Library software, use Adobe Digital Editions.
  • You may still receive the error message, but click "OK" and the message goes away and doesn't really affect the download or transfer process.
New Error Message: (Click "OK," and click through it.)

"This ebook cannot be transferred because there is no license to view on this device or it is authorized to another user."
You might have to change which program handles the EPUB files be default. Right now, it is likely that the Sony Reader Library is managing all of the EPUB files. (Just like how Word probably handles all of your text files.)

Ultimately, we want you to download the file and open it with Adobe Digital Editions. Here's how to change the default program used to open the EPUB files.
    • Find a file on your computer ending with .ascm. If necessary, re-download another EPUB file from the Website >> Save the file to a known location on your computer and move onto the next step.
    • Next, right-click on the file.
    • Next, choose "Open with."
    • Browse through the list or find Adobe Digital Editions.
    • Be sure to click the check box to always open the file with this application!
    • Now, try downloading the EPUB again from the nh.lib.overdrive.com site.
    • Download a file and OPEN the file. Now, Adobe Digital Editions should automatically open the file.

I hope this information is helpful!
